Fencing

Neighbour has come onto my property without my permission to repair his fence post and left a mess

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.54 PM

My neighbour has replaced a rotten wooden fence post. He didn't notify me he intended to carry out the work or ask permission to enter onto my property. He's dug a hole in my lawn and filled the hole with concrete up to surface level for his new fence post. It's a complete unsightly mess. I've written to him to ask him to make necessary repairs but not sure what to do if he refuses to make the repairs.

Tough one, technically if fence is apart, they dont need to access your property or let you know they are going to do the work. But, they should leave your garden in a respectable order when finished. Best recourse is to actually speak to them politely and ask for them to tidy your land. Otherwise its a council issue which would take time and be stressful for both parties. Face to face talks are always the first thing to do before letters or further action
