Gas Works

Gas meter moved and new pipe work running on external wall to boiler.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

Hi, my street is having gas works done which involves in my case as i live in a maisonette my gas meter from my kitchen being installed outside. properly due to it being complex the pipe work is being run externally along to my boiler. however they had to pass a drain pipe and and they did not set over it but underneath it so it is touching with the drain pipe and external wall. Is that safe? from there it sets up about 1.5m and into the property ( Boiler ). the part that sets up they also left one white clip only. further, the hole they drilled to get the pipe into the property does it need to be sealed as i do not want mice getting in. am i allowed to do this? Lastly if i wanted to put external insulation, in the future. am i allowed to hide the pipes inside the insulation and render over it? thank you

It would be very important for you to get a qualified gas registered engineer to come out visually check over the issues run a tightness test. make sure there is no leaks or problems with the boiler or any other gas appliances, he can do this by carrying out a gas safety check on all appliances. The engineer can then check over all pipe work from outside the property leading to in side. Then the Engineer can sleeve the piping, inspect the hole to make sure mice cannot enter your home.
