Butt hinge patio doors - adjusting but still too tight to shut.

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

Hi there, my patio doors won't shut unless I shut them together (and even then it's a tight squeeze). I have a butt hinge and have adjusted the adjusting screws to give as much room as possible, and tweaked the grub screw so it's tighter at the top and looser at the bottom, but door is too tight to shut without shutting the other at the same time. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Andrew

Hi Sounds like the frames have dropped there isn't much adjustment in butt hinges you could deglaze the frames and re toe and heal the double glazed units that should help

Its more than likely going to be a toe and heeling problem if they have been working ok previously.
