Damp in bedroom along join of wall and ceiling.
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
Please could anyone tell me if a damp patch in a bedroom where the ceiling meets the wall could be caused by ill fitting gutters and facia boards? Also does it matter if there is a gap between the back of the gutter and the facia board? Is if the gutter is not right up to the facia board? Many thanks

it more likely to be deterioration of the felt at the gutter line stopping the water of the roof dripping into the gutter this will allow wind driven rain to penetrate under your roof tiles creating dampness in your brick work.
having the gutter hard up against the fascia will make no difference and in fact may increase the problem if the fascia boards are in correctly fitted
good luck Alex

In the short no, your roof is leaking.
There will be a slight gap between, gutter and fascia due to gutter brackets.

Gutters usually are 50mm off of facias but you need to make sure the tiles or slates over sale correctly
I’d get a good local roofer to have a look

Could be many things, could be damp in the room forming when warm air hits a cold spot in the ceiling, often see this where poor insulation and a cold draft in the loft space causes this, mixed with a lack of airflow in the room.
Could be as you say a roof leak or possibly fascia area.
Best remove the gutter and inspect or supply some photos here.
Good luck!
