Fitting felt back carpet with an underlay?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
How can I secure felt back carpet with an underlay? On it's own I know I can use adhesive but I can't find any proper information on what to do with an underlay as well as the grippers won't hold felt. Should I glue the underlay to the floor first then glue the carpet on top? Thanks in advance.

You can use a short pin gripper for the felt backed carpet and fit it the usual way.

Hi glue the underlay down then spray around the gripper when your fitting to help secure to the gripper as your tucking and stretching

You can use normal wood grippers or a special gripper that has a felt pad on just for felt back carpets. Not advisable to use carpet adhesive sticking the underlay to the subfloor then the carpet to the underlay. It's a messy job and would cost you more
