Bad ceiling re skim.
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.35 PM
Hi, I recently had my ceiling re skimmed after the first plasterer did a bad job. I went with the new plasterer on recommendation and he assured me he could correct the ceiling. He also did a fresh skim on the walls for me. The result on the ceiling is even worse than before, now Its painted it shows so many lumps and bumps, trowel marks and dips. The walls also aren’t that great but I’ve managed to sand and fill these to a passable standard. One area of the ceiling he stopped short of finishing and came back the next day to finish, the join looks so bad! I questioned him at the time but he assured me that when painted you wouldn’t see anything after a light sand. He also advised me to lightly sand everything before painting which I thought was a bad idea! Help! What can I do to fix this? I’m planning to speak to him on Monday about my concerns but unfortunately I have paid him already. Thanks for the replies. I have had a recommended plasterer have a look today and he said it may be too heavy to have another ceiling skim as it’s been done twice now. I have spoken to the original plasterer and he has offered to spend the day filling with easy fill and sanding to make good. I’m not sure if I should let him incase it makes it worse. Would a decorator be able to improve it?
