suspended floor boards insulation with PIR boards
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.35 PM
Hi There, Living in a 1930s house which has a ground floor that is raised approximately 50 cm above the ground. I would like to add Pir boards under the floorboards to not have cold air coming in from underneath. It's quite expensive so because of the price I wonder what thickness i should use ? I saw in a Kinspan video that i can use saddle clips to hold them in place. Can i use the expanding foam to fill the gaps between the boards the joists ? Thanks a lot for help M.

Personally I wouldn't use the spray foam insulation as it will cause the timbers to sweat and rot, 50m kingspan with a gap above will be adequate

you can use kingspan and foam to the joints, you can also use a polystyrene boards. But you can't leave it like that. First, you need to use a membrane before putting kingspan or polystyrene board. Then place the material you want to use on the membrane. it would be best to additionally gently arm and pour cement.
