Replace or repair internal door
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 2.41 PM
I have a damaged bedroom door. The housing for the door lock is damaged as if someone has pushed the door and the wood area around the lock has come away. Is ther a way the patch up the area that has the same strength as normal or do i just replace the door.

If it is a standard hollow internal door of moulded fire door just replace it, internal doors are fairly cheap and repairs to these dont work.
If it is a solid wood door it is possible to repair to a reasonable standard however there is the cost of labour(cutting out broken area, fixing, Sanding down door for clean consistant finnish, painting/varnishing) and cost of materials.
Unless it is an antique or bespoke door I wouldnt bother.

Yes , it would be simpler to replace door unless antique or bespoke.
