Are my air bricks necessary?
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.36 PM
Hi There are 2 air bricks in my kitchen (concrete floor house). The kitchen is cold due to this and I'm thinking of replacing with normal bricks or blocking the gaps. Any advice/rough costs? Thanks

yes they are necessary, they allow air into the cavity to prevent any damp.

Depending on the year of the property?
Air flow should be for under the floor,
unless there is a fire place in that room.

If it is a concrete floor then there is no need for them!

If you have concrete floors i am assuming your airbricks are through the walls then you can block one side of the air brick (the inside) and leave the outer airbrick as it will still circulate air into the cavity it does not need to go all the way through unless you have windows in the kitchen you cannot open for some reason an airbrick that goes all the way through is only to circulate air into the room
