Is there a required distance between extractor hood and adjacent wall units above a gas hob?

**Update - thanks for all the replies - just to clarify, this question is specifically about the required space between standard wall units and the hood. If there are laws/rules about this I would be grateful for a link to them** ----- We're planning a new kitchen, and we've been given conflicting advice from our builder, the kitchen planner at a major DIY store, and the gas hob's manufacturer about where our standard wall (not tall) units can go on either side of the extractor hood. I called the HSE and they said to defer to the hob installation instructions, which don't mention this at all. Can anyone confirm if there is a rule about this? We want to have a 30cm wall unit right beside a 60cm hood. The hood would be above a 60cm gas hob (the hob would also 30cm away from the nearest side wall along the work top, and 50cm away from the back wall). Is this allowed, and if so, where can I find the regulations around this so I can discuss this further with our builders? Our builder says wall units beside the hood (but above the gas hob) need a 20cm gap between hood and unit. I've not come across this anywhere. All rules I've found seem to suggest that as long as they're high enough up and not directly above the hob, it's fine. This will be an owner occupied property, so it isn't a rental, which I think matters. Thank you!
