Wet patches on ceiling of shower room

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.35 PM

Whenever I use the shower some small wet patches appear on the ceiling of the shower room. Not sure why this is happening, it appears to be a leak. One plumber thought it was caused by a faulty fan, but it's happening even when the fan is not switched on.

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Surely your plumber meant the fan may be faulty as it was not providing enough ventilation so if the fan is off you would not expect it to provide ventilation It sounds like condensation so lack of ventilation could cause your problem So is it on the surface of ceiling? If it is a leak from above then the ceiling would remain damp for along period Try wiping the area when it appears condensation should be easy to wipe away

It sounds like condensation. New fan required or possibly the fan vent is blocked. If it’s damp coming through the ceiling making the entire ceiling damp and not just the surface then I suggest you check the area above the ceiling for any pipes and then feel them for leaks.
