ventilation to flat roof between joists

we have currently constructed a flat roof with lantern roof light in the middle and used vented soffits both side of the roof for air flow. Where the lantern light is the air can't get from one side to the other because of the trimmer to form the opening for the roof light. any ideas how we can get around this without going to a warm roof system ?? thanks

Hi, Generally in this situation it would be advised to introduce ventilation holes in the joists close to the trimmer. This would allow movement of air. Always advisable to approach building control for approval, and advise on quantity and size of holes required without having a negative effect on joist strength/integrity.

In this case I would leave a 10-15mm gap behind the upstands around the lantern and use flat roof ventilation strips
