Damp Proofing

What percentage on a Damp Meter is acceptable within a house

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

I have recently discovered what seems to be rising damp on an internal wall in the lounge. Trying to figure out whats causing the issue. I was wondering what % on a damp meter is acceptable for a wall within a house?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

U need to get a professional in as the actual Proto meter gives you the exact reading Damp is Serious it’s not DIY and it can cost you a lot of money so be careful

Anything above 17% is a cause of concern. This indicates the dry wall requires to be replaced. Which moisture meter are you using? As cheap ones are highly inaccurate. Always request damp investigation report. Difference between damp proofers quote and investigation is Damp proofer will always quote for works he wants to do. The investigation will tell causes and best solutions plus estimate of cost. Hope this helps
