Hairline cracks reappearing after being filled
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
Hi, Wonder if someone can help. I had my house decorated a couple of months and and cracks were filled with something called red devil and then decorated. The cracks are now back. Does anyone have advice on how to have these gone permanently and not just for a couple more months?
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Is your plaster work in good condition. What I tend to do is recommend that the surface be lined, with lining paper, if this problem keeps occurring.

Hi there.
This would require some joint tape to be applied to the offending area areas, and filled over.
This should hold hopefully back the cracks for a longer term.
However if the property has some issues issues with movement, this may well reappear again in time.
Hope this helps.

Red Devil is a soft filler , you should use joint tape to stop the cracks coming back and some better filler easyfill or cement based filler
Hope this helps you
