Kitchen Fitting

Ordering a new kitchen during coronavirus uncertainty

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.15 PM

We need to get a new kitchen fitted after our floor was damaged and base units removed to fix a water pipe leak. We have now decided to buy our units from DIY Kitchens.com and are on the point of ordering. But the kitchen will not be delivered until the first week of November. So now we are worried that it may arrive and the country may by then be back in lockdown. Will we still be able to get it fitted? We can’t wait for many weeks/months with all the units clogging up our living room. We don’t know if we should just leave it and wait until the threat of further lockdown has subsided or would will still be able to get a fitter to fit it even if we are in lockdown by then? Thank you.

With social distancing, sensible practice, masks and testing, work like this should be able to be carried out.

I have continued to fit kitchens for people since lockdown began, I have stayed in the kitchen area whilst the clients have stayed away in other rooms. All cutting was done in garages or outdoors depending on the weather. Each night I wiped everything down and have had no problems

Same as others have said. For me, providing homeowners and myself are happy and healthy. I would proceed. But I would work alone also wearing a mask. Wouldn’t bring a team of builders round, Walking in and out. Clean off surfaces and sanitise regularly. Should be an issue.

I suggest you arrange the delivery to take place very close to your agreed installation date. Then if anything changes you can postpone your delivery. When the work starts implement sensible hygiene and distancing measures .
