Damp Proofing

Can a self levelling cement be applied to DPM paint

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.14 PM

I'm looking to convert a garage into a living area, the garage is separate from the house and has a uneven concrete floor, which has a DPM painted on top, can I put a self levelling cement on top or would I need to prime the surface or add a PVA glue before applying the cement or can this not be done?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The first answer is to paint the floor with SBR and neat cement in a 1:1 ratio then any cementitious will stick to that and it’s waterproof / condensation proof. I’m concerned about the self levelling compound for a garage , it’s hygroscopic and may get damp from the cold floor .

You would need to thoroughly clean the surface first and is most important and then cover the area with an sbr primer agent prior to self levelling compound

You absolutely can, I would recommend to sand it down a little and apply PVA
