Wallpaper on newly built home walls

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.14 PM

We are told we need to wait y-12minths before fixing wallpaper in a new built home. In our house, which is s new built , The walls are dry plaster board. 2 types of board go through the house, normal plaster board in all rooms other than bathrooms / en-suite as they use a moisture resistant board and then skimmed. They then mist coat it with white paint through out, and then started a second fix work on the property including decoration which includes 2 coats of almond white Matt emulsion paint to the walls, brilliant white for the ceilings and then satin white wood emulsion for doors and woodwork. The skim coating is 2mm. Do we still need to wait or can we hang wallpaper? We only want to do 1 featured wall in each bedroom. Do we still need to wait?

Line the walls Fill any shrinkage around cracked areas Yes you can paper it Just do feature walls only Not full room house needs to settle with heat

Everything he has said is correct but new builds have a 12 month snacking to sort all shrinkage ect due to the property settling. So if you paper or paint the walls a different colour then the will still probably sort the shrinkage but they may not paint. Best to wait after 12 snacking has been completed

If the walls are plastered then wait 12 months just paper one wall as a feature wall if its plasterboard you should not get much shrinking so should be OK you don't need to line the walls but i would what 12 months just to make sure it all good to go
