Plumber refuses to claim his insurance

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.33 PM

The pipe the plumber installed came completely off a week after. This caused serious flooding including the flat below. It was a clear plumber negligence, and he refused to give us his insurance details for my building insurer to claim his insurance. He has ignored our message for the past few weeks. What can I do?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Send registered letter demanding it, if you do not get it take him to court.

A plumber refusing to share his insurance details is more than a little suspect. I would advise your insurer and certainly obtain legal advice.

ok, can you prove it was this plumber that did it, invoice, bank transfer, photo of him on site etc etc, ? if you can then put in the hands of a solicitor immediately. if not and you paid him cash for his efforts then i'm afraid your going to struggle, and if he has no insurance (which is more likely) then your going to have to sue him personally, do you know his address ? it could even go against you as an act of god things go wrong after all .. I'm sure we've all had leaks, most of them were unexpected rather than negligence, without context of course its difficult to say...
