Sale of scrap metals
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.52 PM
Does a building company have the automatic right to sell the scrap metal from the refurb of my Grandmothers house? It had a large amount of lead piping and copper which the building company have weighed in and kept the proceeds. the project manager is saying that it is industry practice for this to happen and that my Grandmother will not be reimbursed. Just seems a little under hand and an extra way to make money for the building company

All scrap belongs to the customer, and at the pricing stage all trades will state removal, IN WRITTING, and if the customer agree's with this then they can take it as they've AGREED!! and if the customer asks for the scrap, the tradesmen will then cost in the loss for leaving it and price accordingly! Thats how i do it, but i always ask!
SIMPLES!
DEPENDS WHAT YOU'VE AGREED AND WHATS IN WRITTING, IF YOU HAVE NOT GOT ANYTHING IN WRITTING, GOOD LUCK,AND YOU'LL LEARN FOR NEXT TIME!
