covering artex ceiling

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.32 PM

I have artex ceilings in a rented property I'd like to cover. It's a ripple effect fan pattern so not deep. Would it be safe and work to use thick lining paper then paint it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The answer to your question Victoria is no,you will have to get a good qualified plasterer to skim the ceiling (around £10psm inclusive of materials)then apply a mist coat of breathable contract matt emulsion then a further 2 coats for a perfect finish.Kind regards Alan

Artex may well contain asbestos. Always test before disturbing. Any doubts - overboard then skim.
