Newly fitted thermostatic shower only delivering two temperatures either hot or freezing cold

Bought a new house and had the ensuite renewed. The new thermostatic shower is only delivering two temperatures either freezing cold or hot. When you rotate the temperature control towards you, from cold to hot it stays the same temperature of cold until the mid point then suddenly switches over to hot. The hot temperature doesn't change either as you turn it all the round away from the cold side. What is the most typical reason that would cause this to happen? Thanks

Hi, This sounds like the hot and cold supplies to the shower could be the wrong way around. Irratic temperature fluxuations are normally down to a faulty thermostatic cartridge in the shower, but in this case, with it being almost new, its likely to be an installation error. Has it ever worked correctly? Thanks
