Kitchen Renovation not done to high standard

Anonymous user 13/03/2024 - 2.31 PM

We have just had our kitchen renovated and it has not been done to the standard we expected. We pointed out all the issues to the builder and even had some other builders to come round to check the work - who have agreed that the work has not been done correctly / or as they would expect. As mentioned we have advised our builder of this and told him we cannot pay him the remaining amount due to incomplete work and work having to be re-done. He does not agree and keeps asking us for the money. We said we are willing to meet him half way as a gesture of good will. I do not know what else we can do at this point, can you please advise. Any help would be much appreciated.

Sarah, I wouldn't even meet him half way at this point, the best thing to do is get a kitchen fitter to come and in quote for the work that needs to be put right, if this is with-in the money you have held back, get the remainder of the work corrected and then pay the new fitter, what ever the balance is once this is done, pass on to the original builder. If the cost of the correction work is more then the value you have retained then file for a small claim at the County Court. Not sure where in the country you are but i may be able to help if you wish, or posting a job on this website will get you a reputable kitchen fitter, who will have positive feedback and a good profile.
