Dry ridge system
Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.32 PM
I have just had a dry ridge system fitted to the hips of my roof. There is a gap, in places, where the ridge meets the roof of at its widest 40mm. Is this acceptable? It doesn't look great.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi there, there should be a gap between the tile and the ridge to allow for airflow. However, the ridge should be resting neatly and securely on bottom of the tile, other waive the ridges could move and shift in high wind conditions. The profile of most roof tiles is around 25mm. If the ridges are sitting above the tiles, then it sounds like the hip batten is too high and its height will need reduced.
