I want to install laminated floor. Can I do it over a carpet or tales?

I want to put laminated floor in the living room and kitchen? Can this floor be installed over carpet (living room) and tiles ( kitchen) What type of laminated floor do you recommend?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

No don't lay over carpet it's too soft as for the tiles yes you can lay over them using an underlay appropriate for that but you will most probs find the heights of the adjoining floors will be substantially different

Hi you cant laminate over carpet it's to soft and bouncy but you can laminate over tiles.if when you take carpet up it's different levels you can use ply or self level compound to bring it level .use a decent laminate underlay as it makes huge difference

Laminate flooring can be fitted over tiles, in the kitchen I would recommend lvt flooring which is waterproof, in your living room carpet has to be lifted and you have a endless choice of laminate, to install,

Not way lay over carpet tiles ok so long as sound and level without seeing the tiles and how level the floor is not possible to say most laminates you will get away with 3 to 4 mm differnce no more
