Plumbing

Toilet blocked with paper.

Anonymous user 03/03/2024 - 3.32 PM

My toilet is blocked with toilet paper. I have tried a few things. Not working. Someone told me not to use acid or drain cleaner in toilet so I have not. All I have used is the plunger, bleach and things like baking soda and stuff. Can I use drain cleaner in the toilet? Is it safe? Or is there something else I can do. It is only a toilet paper block. Cola not worked any other ideas? Can I use drain cleaner?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Hi. I myself have removed everything from cutlery, toys and strange objects... the blue block plastic cage being the most trouble allegedly. If it's just paper it has likely shifted otherwise you may need a plumber to investigate. Good luck, Bob.

Little tip: Fill the toilet with some cheap Coca Cola. Throw a bit of washing up liquid on top. Leave it over night. The Coca Cola breaks up the tissue over a few hours and the washing up liquid helps it down. May be worth trying before calling out a plumber

You need to cheek your main drain if this is not flowing then the main stack is blocked.

If its definitely only a toilet paper and you not in hurry - you can wait and it will go at some point. You can use a caustic soda to speed up the process- it's safe and harmless solution (local plumb centre). Sulfuric acid (also available from some plumb centres) will do the job in less than hour, but it's VERY DANGEROUS to use and if you not confident with this kind of chemicals I would avoid it. A plumber with bit of knowledge and decent tools it's your best solution, to be honest.
