Treating knots on Pine wood

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

Hi, After some advice. I have pine dorr frames that need painting and there are lot of knots on the wood, some with holes in the knots as well. Question 1: Do I put knotting solution on first then fill in holes or fill holes in and then put knotting solution on? Question 2: Is multipurpose filler fine or do I need wood filler? Any help would be appreciated.

Zinsser 123 is a good primer paint that is better than using knotting nothing will come through this. Fill holes first ideally with wood filler, but you can use multi purpose.

I recommend Bartoline Patent Knotting Sealant, 500ml PET Bottle first primer, then filler and primer

Knotting will help and a exterior two pack filler would be better before priming and undercoat
