How to lighten or change colour of outdoor cement garden tiles?
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
Will a power wash will make my garden tiles as light as I would like? The tiles original colour is a brownish shade. I'm hoping for more of a cream shade. Is it possible to paint the tiles? If so, it might need retouching every couple of years? Thank you for your help.

Hi, most certainly a power washer will make the tiles slightly lighter. I have in the past painted concrete slabs with Masonary paint. But if there is to be a lot of tread on the path you'll probably have to touch it up every year or so.
Best thing to do would be to power wash a corner or a part under a plant pot etc. Then you'll get a true feel for what colour it is. Let it dry be for you make you decision

Hope this helps.

Pour pure patio & brick cleaner acid over the slabs, I done this to my patio I built over lockdown and accidentally faded the colour from dark grey to a light grey....
My slabs were cheap concrete ones bought from selco like 2/3 pound a slab, you are supposed to water down the acid for general use and I learned this the hard way but if you want to fade the colour this will probably work.
