Recessed drain covers in a patio, potential trip hazard

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

We're having a patio done in our back garden this week with 3 drain covers replaced with recessed covers. The landscaper that is doing the work is highly recommended and seems to know what he's doing. He's put the drain covers in and started laying slabs already. We have noticed that the drain covers seem to be an inch or two above the level of the patio and we're very worried about this being a trip hazard. My question is, is it normal to lay the covers slightly above the slabs? Will that be enough to cause people to trip? Or is there some way of adjusting the height afterwards that I'm not aware of? I can't believe that he wouldn't be aware of this problem so I'm assuming he either doesn't care or he has a solution to address it. I'm planning to ask him about it later today but I wanted to be a bit more knowledgeable before I do

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

the finished drain covers should be completly level with the slabs otherwise like you say it is a trip hazard it needs to be corrected now otherwise slabs will have to be lifted afterwards and the drain lowered simple as that

The point of a recessed drain cover is to blend the drain in with the patio/driveway,it definitely be at the exact level of the surrounding area,to avoid being a hazard
