What order are jobs done in fitting a new bathroom
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 2.52 PM
Hello, I'm looking to get a new bathroom, including new bath, wc, 2 basins, change tray for shower, with new door for cubicle and retiled, new tiling on walls but not everywhere, the rest plastered and new flooring. in what order would this be done ie plastering first? last? flooring when etc? may sound like a daft question but haven't got a clue! thanks

I would remove old suite and carry out first fix on pipework.
Plaster any areas that need doing
If required carry out first fix on electrics. ( shower cable/switches etc )
Set bath and shower tray
Paint plastered wall area and ceiling
Tile and grout floor, then tile and grout wall area
Fix toilet, basin, shower door and 2nd fix all pipework
Fix bath panel and seal above bath, basin and around floor area

first of all you fit or adjust pipework ready for appliances this is called a first fix, then anything that has to be tilled on you fit first like bath and shower cusbical. then you tile bathroom and grout, then you can second fix anything else like shower door, shower screen so you can seal them against tiles to make water proof then toilet, basin and bidet so they look good against the tiling run a little bead of silocone seal around edges so there are no dark edges and test as you go. then the floor and then bath panel.

The order of things is decided by the team doing the job! how do we know!
decommission
1st fix
tile
2nd fix
test and go! bit like that!
