Sewage smell around soil pipe in bathroom

Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM

I had the old upstairs bathroom ripped out and replaced with a shower, the toilet and sink housed in in a vanity type unit with a false 'door' panel over the soil pipe. There was an internal cast iron soil pipe but the bathroom supplier said this wouldn't be a problem to reduce in height and fit an AAV. Ever since it has been finished there has been a sewage type smell in the bathroom, some times it is only faint but if the window and door has been closed then the smell is awful. Unfortunately the fitter decided to fit the false panel to the unit by screwing metal brackets to the inside of the panel and toilet unit. There is only a small opening in which I was able to get a photo. The soil pipe only appears to come just level with the trap under the sink and is fitted with a floplast A1 valve. Is this the cause of the problem or is it a faulty seal elsewhere on the soil pipe or connected pipework?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?
