What should I fill the gaps in with for new box sash windows on period property.
Anonymous user 28/02/2024 - 3.53 PM
I have a 1900 period property, just upgraded the sash windows to new box sash. However there are big gaps between the windows. Especially on the window bay . This is a solid brick Victorian property with no cavity. Plastered in traditional lime. Should I fill it with insulation then use plasterboard and wood? If so what type of insulation is recommended.

When you take the old windows out you will need to put timber straight away. Clean the area very good because there is a lots of dust. Put the new windows in, foam it.... Wait a bit for that foam to get dry and after that put the fiber glass insulation. The next step is the trims(plastic or wood) seal everything if is plastic trims.
