Can you emulsion over SBR bal primer

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

We have just primed interior wall with SBR bal primer ready for tiles to be laid on new plaster . However we accidentally painted the primer were we didn’t need it on a newly emulsioned wall. Can we re-paint over the SBR with emulsion paint .? Thanks

Hi yes you be able to to paint over it all you’ll need to do is rub it down a bit to give it a key then give it two coats. Hope this helps. Scott

It will make no differenc to the emulsion it will easily cover the primer. All new plasterd wall should be preimed anyway before final coats of emulsion are applied.

If its a newly painted wall and u put it over it u should be able to get hot water and wash it off if not and you need to re paint than give it a light sand all over and re paint be best way doesn't do any harm as its only a water based acrylic primer and if its on new plaster its OK it will be the same as a mist coat which you ment to do on new plaster hope this helps

There shouldn't be any problems. Just sand to provide a key and remove nibs ect, then paint over.
