Induction hob set into a 12mm solid laminate worktop
Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.35 PM
Hello. I've just ordered an induction hob which I plan to have fitted into a slim 12mm solid laminate worktop. The manual says worktop must be min 30mm. I have sited it over the oven but with a 100mm space covered by a blank drawer front between the top of the oven and the counter. Will that clearance resolve the min worktop depth issue or are there other considerations? Thanks!

Yes that'l do fine. Ive done that myself..use the 'oven filler panel' which normally sits below the oven. Sit the oven on the very bottom of the oven housing then use the 'oven filler panel' to bridge the gap between the top of the oven & underside of the work surfaces.

Yes , that will be fine when you have blank drawer underneath.

Fitting the built oven fascia above the oven instead of below is good as others have said.
If you don't comply with the manufacturer's guidelines you may invalidate your warranty.
You could replace the cabinet's top rail with a full depth matching 18mm panel with the hob cut out in it. you have then supported the hob with the 30mm that they have specified.
