Waxing a cabinet and painting after

if i get a wood cabinet made and get a gloss/wax finish, can i then paint it the color i want after?

If you are having a bespoke cabinet made then tell the cabinet maker/Joiner to leave it in the white ie not treated then you can apply your own finish. Simple

You can paint anything as long as you prepare all the surfaces. You would have to take the wax off sand it down and wipe down with white spirit and use an acrylic primer . Then a couple of coats of your chosen colour.

I would not recommend painting it if it has been waxed as the paint will not take too the wax Wax can be applied as a final layer after painting to inhance and protect
