Single skin flue liner can it be retro fitted to a double skin liner without major alterations?

Anonymous user 23/02/2024 - 3.35 PM

My living flame inset gas fire(under 7kw) was fitted pre 2000 with a single skin flue liner. I live in a bungalow so the length is approx 6M to the ridge tile adaptor from the fire box. My new service engineer has condemned my fire and wants to cap it because of the flue being not to regulations standard. Can a double skin liner be fitted to my existing fire box, with an adaptor, and to my existing ridge tile adaptor also with major upheaval?

Hello If it was installed to manufacturers instructions then it should be alright. There must be another reason. It will be written on your Advisory document he gave you. If you have a problem ring Gas Safe Register and they will advise Thanks
