Interceptor trap

Anonymous user 2 September 2020 - 8.54 PM

Hi I recently had problems with my sewage pipe causing a backlog in my manhole. I've had United Utilities take a look but they weren't interested because it was on my land & even suggested I may have a collapsed pipe because they kept hitting what they thought was a brick (they couldn't get a camera down because the water was too high??) So I contacted my insurance & they sent someone out. The water had returned to a normal level & when they investigated they "suggested" it may be the interceptor trap that needs removing although on their cctv camera the drains where clear but they said they can't get a camera in the interceptor trap. So now I'm stuck, I've been quoted €1300 to have it removed but I'm apprehensive because I don't have much confidence this will solve my problem because no-one has said that yes that is definitely the problem. I have also noticed I don't have an air vent (house was built 1909) so now I'm wondering could it be this reason my sewage isn't clearing. Ive also noticed the water in my toilet rises when its flushed when it's been raining. Any advise would be welcome.

Even with the age of property the soil pipe should be vented The increase in Wc levels whilst raining suggests that your rainwater is fed into your sewer pipe which is possibly not draining quickly possibly due to a partial block Is it not possible to feed camera into the system from both the Wc end and the manhole so checking up to the inteseptor
