Reuse of tiles after refurbishment

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Is there any way to reuse tiles from the bathroom? Mine are quite ugly and I would like to replace them but they are fully functional and clean, so I am wondering there is a way for them to be reused by someone instead of sending them to the landfill?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It's a good question and if it were possible to reuse tiles removed from walls it would be great. The reality is that the removal process basically destroys the tile or renders it so damaged that it cannot be reused. If it were possible to remove a tile without damage the amount of time taken would not be cost effective additionally, adhesive remaining stuck to the rear of the tile would render the tile useless. For quite ornate tiles I have heard of people breaking the tile into pieces and using it as a mosaic, but a standard tile probably wouldn't give the look. Most recycling centres now have a special skip for this type of rubbish which is ground up and reused as hardcore (so it isn't all bad news).

I agree, considering the pain steak productivity involved in restoring used tiles is absolutely worthless,

Unfortunately I do have to agree with the others. The time it takes to remove tiles without massive amounts of damage is prohibitively expensive assuming it can be done at all. A lovely idea in this throwaway world but extremely difficult. Sorry.
