What do we do with an old light switch, still wired in?

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

The light switch has been moved to a different wall (to allow for furniture we think...) but the old one remains. It does not control anything, but is still wired in. What do we do with it?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Just leave it if it's not in the way of anything. Perfectly safe.

What do you want to do with it? If the answer is nothing then do nothing... If the answer is to remove it then test it to see if anything is live Using a suitable mains tester. If it is then call an electrician. If you can’t test it call an electrician. If it’s not live then remove the cover, cover the wires with a small plastic bag and then fill the hole with plaster or filler. Rub down and paint. Cheers
