Removal of wet room to create large living room

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM

Looking to buy a house where the current owner installed a wet room within the living room - added two walls to create a separate room within the corner of the living room. I would like to remove this wet room and convert back into a large living room. Wet room has a shower head, toilet, sink, floor drain, underfloor heating and lighting. Two new walls within the living room contain sockets and a radiator. What else do I need to think about with converting the living room back into one room?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

Presumably you are putting it back to its original form and if so, you will simply need to make sure all electrical and mechanical services ar safely removed and make good

The electrical services need terminating at source, likely to be in the distribution board but could also be in the existing ring main for the ground floor. The mechanical/plumbing runs need to be removed completely back to original build so as not to leave "dead legs." The floor drain needs to be sealed up in the manhole it runs into, not just blocked off in the floor and filled over. After this, the non loadbearing walls and fixtures and fittings can simply be stripped out, and the base build walls/ceiling/floor made good ready for new coverings and decorations. No change of use building notice would've been sought at the time of conversion, so you need not seek it now to change this back.
