DECIDING ON THE GATES FOR FRONT OF PROPERTY
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.34 PM
Hi, I am looking at getting double metal gates installed in the front of my drive, I am just looking at the options out there and the sizes (width) of the gates all seem to be the same. I have a bog standard terrace so I do not see the standard width being a problem. Am I right in assuming that any difference in the width the gates have to cover can be filled out with brickwork or fencing? Edit: Thank you for your response. There is currently no brickwork just an open space to put gates in. Any help tips appreciated. Phia

Hello Phia,
So long as what they hang the gates on is load bearing that won't be a problem to fill the gap.

I would get a local company to come out and take measurements and then give you a quotation to build than and do the fitting.
If it’s done in this way the responsibility is all on the company to get things right for you.

Measure gap and get gates made to measure in the style customer requests.. take into account posts for gate size and which direction gates are going to swing.

Google local fabricators (wrought iron work) companies, they’ll come out show you different styles and then make them to measure.
