Best underfloor material for Luxury Vinyl Tiles/Lino in a kitchen

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi, just recently completed a full kitchen renovation and now I am ready to sort the flooring. I have standard 20mm floorboards in the kitchen at the minute and I'm just wondering what the best way to prep ready for LVT is. Would this be to install ply screwed at 150mm on top of the floorboards or OSB chipboard? Ideally don't want anything too thick but just want to know what the industry standard way of doing it is. Cheers,

6mm SP101 or FG1 ply if the floor is flat, you might need to go to the 9mm if the floor is a bit uneven.

Same as previous reply.. ie 6-9ml sp10 plywood.. fixed at appropriate 150 ml spacers with either small wood screws or ring shank pins. Once fixed then apply a small amount of ardex feather finish to smooth out of jointed edges.

There’s a few ways to prepare floors like this nowadays You can ply and screed or could even use an underlay system like Softlay
