Removed old wall paper from my home now I'm stuck with broken plaster
Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.33 PM
I have recently bought a home built around 1930s.. I have decided to remove the wall paper as I want to paint the walls to get a more modern look. Upon taking the wall paper off I noticed that the old plaster under the wall paper has started to crack bit by bit within random spots on the wall. Would you say a bag of Thistle Bonding Coat followed by Thistle multi finish will prepare the wall for painting or have I completely missed the concept of what I need to be doing? You should be able to just unibond and skim un less it is deep Then you will need to bond it first

A good coat of glue and a quick skim should be fine as long as it’s not blown and still solid.

If your going to skim the walls then make sure you scrim the cracks first or you can also scrim and use easy fill on the rough parts and rub down after if your doing it yourself and not able to skim the wall

Given the age of the property it would need knocking off uni bond dab walls and board or sharp sand lime and cement Nigel
