My TRV comes has O * I II III IIII and the last one is |I| sorta and I'm not sure what the last one means? A following question would I need to set to the * to stop pipes from freezing during winter if I'm out of the house for a length of time?

Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

The number on the radiator thermostat typically mean the following; 0 = Off * = 7°C (The Holiday Setting) 1 = 10°C 2 = 15°C 3 = 20°C 4 = 25°C 5 = 30°C If your radiators have cold spots, for example the radiator may be on full but the top portion is cold, then you will need to bleed them, this can drastically increase the effectiveness of your radiator system, old radiators can be a bit precarious to bleed and bleed valves have been know to snap off if to much force is exerted on it, so always proceed with caution when attempting DIY. If in doubt, speak to a professional. Hope this answers your question.
