Low Shower pressure on Cold feed when toilet flushed

Anonymous user 16/03/2024 - 2.33 PM

Hi all, Looking for some help/advice. A while back i changed the thermostatic shower thingy (power/temp control). Ever since I have had an issue whereby the shower/bath cold water feed drops in pressure if the toilet is flushed. Even when the toilet cistern is full it is still an issue. The bathroom sink does not seem to have an effect. It was also fine until i swapped the shower unit. As such i'm assuming as air lock of some sort? Given its cold water i assume not boiler related but i have a sealed tank in the cupboard with an cold water tub in the loft. Any ideas on what this could be and how it can be resolved would be very welcome - not much fun trying to bath the kids when there is only a trickle of cold water versus a great amount of hot!! Thanks Simon

If you think it's a air lock, open all taps in the house to get full flow the starting at the bottom most furthest away taps start to close slowly eventually turning off the highest taps closest to the problem. This will get rid of any airlocks without draining the full system. Otherwise your description is unclear and lacks details. My pressure drops when I I flush my own toilet but picks back up again after cistern is full. You might have a blockage in the cold water storage tank but you need to give more details. Maybe you have fitted the wrong type of shower. Gravity systems need taps, showers that can operate at 0.1bar, maybe you bought a shower that is only meant for pressure systems.. Need more info when you ask a question.
