Can I remove the pane glass at the top of my window and convert it to openers?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.14 PM
I currently have a upvc window. The bottom 2 windows open up. There’s a Fixed to glass at the top. Can I convert this to openers? Without changing the whole window? Thanks

Highly unlikely because the rebates are probably on the inside

Unfortunately, you cannot fit a sash into a fixed window, as the profile has been welded in a certain way for strength and security.
If you want a top opener you will need to replace the window in total. If you just want ventilation you may be able to fit a trickle vent in the top of the Existing window.

In theory this can be done, but
1. the frame would have to be externally beaded.
2. you would need to know the type of profile used, to match the sash to frame.
3. find a supplier who manufactures that particular window. Hope this helps and good luck.

It All depends if the window is internally glazed or externally glazed. If the window is internally glazed no this can not be done as the rebate is on the inside.
On the other hand if the window is glazed externally yes this could be done.
