door open alarms

Hi, I have a malfunctioning door alarm at the font door. every time the door was opened, there should be a sound. The fitted one have a magnetic sensor at the bottom of the door, the wire goes under the carpet, then goes up to a 4 element speaker. My first guess was the speaker is out of battery, but it wasn't. The speaker is supplied with dc power from a veritas 8c security box. The box has light on, so the battery should be ok, although the system is at unset. I am not familiar with the security system so I hope to have some advice advices to solve the problem. is this something I should call a security company to help out or a DIY ? please advice. Thanks for reading!

If there are no problems setting the alarm or entering the property ie: alarm wont set or activates on entry to the property, this suggests the chime function is turned off but the contact is operational. On a Veritas panel the "music note" button on the keypad turns the chime function on and off.

On the veritas panel you can turn the chime function off. Try pressing the music note or chime button and try again

Hi, It sounds like the door contact is wired on the same cable as the speaker. enable walk test mode and test door contact. if device doesn’t test then if could be a faulty contact or a wiring issue. if the contact tests ok via walk test then enable chime function with the chime button and retest. Step 4 if still no chime following step 3 then programming with need to be checked by an engineer to ensure chime function is enable for the door. Thanks
