Do I need a check valve fitted to a connector brought for my kitchen single mixer tap

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

I have brought a Hozelock Round Mixer Tap Connector for use with a purchase to be made for a garden hose. My patio Garden is 21 ft and does not warrant an outside tap. If I want to use the water from my kitchen mixer tap for connecting a garfden hose to then surely I don't need a check valve as suggested on this Hozelock connector "Not suitable for a mixer tap without a check valve fitted" as there should be no chance of any drawback of water I would have thought just using the kitchen sink tap. Could someone help please as such a small job is turning into a mammoth endeavour it seems? Thanks guys.

To comply with water regs you do need a check valve on mains cold supply if your going to attach a garden hose as there is a chance of draw back and therefore contamination. Perhaps not the answer you were hoping for

Hi Water regs say a check valve should be fitted. Especially if a outside water point is fitted/ used. That is the official requirement and hoselock mention it. However, unofficially ... Hope that helps

Under the water regs you need to prevent back flow. If your mixer tap has in-built backflow device then fine, otherwise no.
