Do I have to install a drain off valve in a 1 bed flat?
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.13 PM
Do I have to install a drain off valve in a small 1 bed flat? The radiator which had the drain off valve has been removed as was not required. There are only 3 other radiators in the flat and all have traditional radiator valves meaning the drain off won't fit to them.
Are you a tradesperson and able to answer this question?

It’s not ideal to remove a drain off valve, but on a small heating system with 3 or 4 radiators on it a plumbing and heating engineer could easily drain the system from a radiator valve.
However this would make servicing your heating system more time-consuming which would ultimately cost you more in the long run then having a drain off fitted.

Any sensible plumber would aways install a drain off valve.
It makes the system much easier to work on for maintenance etc but incase of an emergency you should know where yours is (diy disasters)
You could could connect your garden hose open it up and save yourself or lessen the water damage.
