Decorators Caulk

Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.13 PM

Hi - we recently had some light switches replaced and it left some damage around the boxes - were told we needed decorators caulk to put around the cracks, can anyone recommend a good brand of this - and also a small tube rather than a large one that needs a gun to use? Hoping to do this myself and believe its quite easy but having never done it just want some advice, don't want to make it look worse! thank you

Caulk is good for joints that show flexibilty. So between skirting and wall is ideal. However as a filler of cracks on flat surfaces I wouldn't recommend it. Lossen the switches a bit so you don't join them to the wall with filler! Then get some decorators filler spread it across. Wait to dry and then sand back to a flat finish. Paint THEN screw down your switches. Do not join your switches to the wall with CAULK!

Personally I would loosen the light switches off and fine fill then lightly sand down then paint

Never caulk around switches You will have them unscrewed and filled according, leave to dry, sand flat and paint for finish, Screw back socket. Perfect!.
