Can i put latex over liquid dpm
Anonymous user 09/03/2024 - 3.13 PM
Hi, I have recently ripped up the carpets in the dinning room to find out that 1) the concrete flooring underneath is very uneven and 2) there is liquid dpm on 1/8th of the floor. My question is obviously i need to level the floor out before the vinyl goes on, can i just prime the floor as it is with the dpm on it and then put latex self levelling compound down or wouldn't this work? If not what would be the best and quickest thing to do to rectify the situation? Thanks

Prime the floor with “green staff” and level it up with selfleveling compound it will be just fine!

Use Ardex NA no primer required. is not affected by moisture if there is a damp problem and will go over liquid DPM. Its expensive but does exactly what it says

First question (that you probably won't be able to answer):
Why has the liquid DPM only been put on such a small area of floor?
My immediate thought would be to ensure the rest of the floor had a DPM or moisture suppressant, to give it the technical name.
Then yes, prime with the primer that the manufacturer of your latex makes and recommends. Don't use a mix of manufacturers products because if you asked for a site visit due a failure, they'd automatically walk away because you used a different company primer.
Then smooth compound away. All should be perfect.

Check for moisture in the floor first and if all good, Give the floor a good sweep and prime with stopgap p131 primer, then can use fball 300 screed, this is mixed with water approx 5litres, trowel and spikey roller it and you will have a perfect sub floor for you vinyl to get laid on top of.
